Schedule

This is a tentative schedule for the 2023 trip. A final schedule will be available in the fall.

Wednesday, January 11 - First day of Spring classes

1/11 - 3/4 (8 weeks) - Class meets for one hour a week to discuss the play. We'll cover how to read Shakespeare plays, discuss various interpretations of Macbeth, look at how the play has been produced, do historical/dramaturgical research on the play, and talk about the superstitions and mysteries surrounding the classic tragedy.

3/4 - 3/11 Spring Break! - We'll fly to Scotland Saturday, March 4th, and return Saturday, March 11th.


SAT MAR 4: DEPART USA

SUN 5:

Arrive EDINBURGH

 

●  Upon arrival, go through customs, and transfer to the hotel. Check in time is 3:00 pm, so we'll store our luggage and then visit Edinburgh Castle on our own (fee included).

●  Afternoon free to have lunch and explore on your own

●  Make your own way on foot to your Welcome Dinner at local pub (The Albanach or similar)

●  Overnight at The Holiday Inn Express Royal Mile

MON MAR 6: EDINBURGH

·      Following breakfast, meet local guide and private coach for a full day excursion to Sterling Castle and Loch Lomond

·      Afterwards, stop at Doune Castle for a photoop (exterior only) and continue   the tour to Loch Lomond before heading back to Edinburgh

·      Lunch and dinner not included

·      Overnight at The Holiday Inn Express Royal Mile

TUE MAR 7: EDINBURGH


 ●  7-8am Breakfast at hotel
●  Enjoy a day of city sightseeing on your own via Hop-on, Hop- off Bus with live guide

●  Lunch on your own

●  Optional hike to Arthurs Seat (get off at bus stop “Dynamic Earth” to hike 1.3mi with an ascent of 750ft)

●  Dinner on your own

●  Attend a traditional Scottish Ceilidh

●  Overnight at The Holiday Inn Express Royal Mile

WED MAR 8:
EDINBURGH

 ●  Breakfast at hotel

 

●  Full-day guided “Macbeth” excursion with stops at Loch Leven, Perth Dunkeld and Birnam Wood, Dunsinnane Hill, Falkland Palace

●  Lunch and dinner on your own

●  Overnight at The Holiday Inn Express Royal Mile

THUR MAR 9: GLASGOW


 

 ●  Breakfast at hotel

● Make your own way to Edinburgh train station for 11:00am train to Glasgow Queen Street

●  Upon arrival make your way to central Glasgow for an afternoon of self-guided city sightseeing via Hop-on Hop-off Bus (includes stops to: Glasgow Cathedral, People’s Palace and Glasgow University)

●  Attend local theatre performance - City of Angels - Royal Conservatoire of Scotland 2:30pm

●  Return to Edinburgh on your own via train from Glasgow Queen Street Train Station

●  Lunch and dinner on your own

●  Overnight at The Holiday Inn Express Royal Mile

FRI MAR 10:
EDINBURGH

·    Breakfast at hotel

●   Free day to explore on your own

●  Lunch on your own

●  Walk to a local pub for farewell Dinner  
●  Tentative -  ghost tour 

●  Overnight at The Holiday Inn Express Royal Mile

SAT MAR 11: EDINBURGH   

●  Breakfast at hotel

●  Transfer to airport for your return flight home via private coach
